Navamsa (D9) is the most important divisional chart (varga) in Vedic astrology after the natal D1 (rashi chart). Each 30° sign is divided into nine 3°20' parts, and the planet's position in this fine grid determines its navamsa sign. Traditional rules: a planet weak in D1 but strong in D9 (or vice versa) reveals deeper potential; the D9 lagna is read for marriage and second-half-of-life dharma. Some traditions read D9 as more important than D1 after age 35.
