Legend places the Lo Shu Grid on the back of a turtle that emerged from the Lo River in ancient China — its shell marked with a 3×3 pattern of dots that became one of the earliest known magic squares. Arrange the numbers 1 to 9 as 4-9-2 / 3-5-7 / 8-1-6, and every row, every column and both diagonals add up to exactly 15.
