Purnima is the full-moon day — when the Sun and Moon are 180° apart and the Moon reflects maximum sunlight. It marks the end of the waxing fortnight (Shukla Paksha). Many major festivals fall on purnima: Buddha Purnima (Vaisakha), Guru Purnima (Ashadha), Sharad Purnima (Ashwin), Holi (Phalgun). Spiritually considered auspicious — fasting, mantra repetition, charity, and visits to temples are common.
