The tropical zodiac begins at 0° Aries on the vernal equinox (around March 21). It is anchored to the relationship between Earth and Sun — to seasons — rather than to fixed stars. Used in Western, modern, and Hellenistic astrology. Because of precession, tropical 0° Aries no longer corresponds to the constellation of Aries; it now sits in the constellation of Pisces. This is why Western and Vedic charts produce different sign placements for the same person.
