Vimshottari (literally "120-year") is the dominant dasha system in Vedic astrology. It assigns each of the nine grahas a fixed year-length, totalling 120 years: Ketu 7, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19, Mercury 17. Each mahadasha is sub-divided into nine antardashas (sub-periods, proportional to the same ratios), and again into pratyantardashas. The order and starting point are determined by the Moon's nakshatra at birth.
